I became a pharmacy technician for the love of sterile compounding to provide genuine patient care.  It all started for me with preparing and priming I.V. lines for neonatal patients.

Honestly, I was taking pharmacy tech classes, as a 'in the mean time" to get a higher paying job faster, and continue my education in a different major. However, upon starting the pharmacy tech classes, I grew to love the subject, and loved learning about anything pharmacy. With that, I knew I wanted to working in the pharmacy, and continue my education towards becoming a Pharm. D. And that is exactly what I am doing.

I have wanted to be a pharmacist for as long as I could remember so I decided to get a pharmacy job to see if this is what I really wanted to do.

Actually, I was approached and offered an opportunity in a pharmacy at my first job based on how day-to-day interactions with people in the store. I am always down for a new challenge, and I have been on this path since. I enjoy what I do, I enjoy learning and being part of the bigger picture. There have been some rough times for sure, but they brought me to where I am now. Treating everyone as if they were family makes such an impact!

Pharmacy has been my passion for about 35 years!

I had been job hopping for years trying to find the right fit for me so one day I was job searching and came across a pharmacy tech position. They were willing to train and send me to school so I was like why not. I applied. Unfortunately they hired someone else but it intrigued me so I did some research on what the job entailed. I decided I'd go to school and become nationally certified. Within 2 months of getting my certification, I had my first Pharmacy Tech job and I've been there since November. I love my job and I'm so happy I found where I fit in the workforce.

My mother suggested it to me. I was coming from another retail field, but with clothing and I needed to get away from it. I worked hard and it felt like I wasn't good enough. Being a pharmacy technician, you know you are making a difference. I also love learning something new each day. I want to become better to serve my community well.

I work for a grocery store chain.   I spent about 10 years working in management and various other positions before getting burned out and looking for a change.   I talked to the pharmacist at the time and she suggested that I come work for her.   I took the PTCB test and have been happily working in the pharmacy now for over 17 years.

I became a Pharmacy Technician because my goal is to become a Pharmacist some day. I had wanted to acquire the skills and knowledge to work in a Pharmacy.
